Nothing artistic this weekend. I worked on scripting the animation system and I can’t show that yet. I also worked on a macro design of the whole map of the castle as shown below. The scale and shape of each section is very likely to change.
I continued to do the texture of the suspended cell where the girl starts her adventure. The cell is suspended by a big chain to one of the castle’s tower. After that, I did a skybox texture and imported everything into Unity to see what I could do with the lighting. I also tried a bloom image effect (picture 5) to have a Ico feel. I’m not sure I’ll keep it though. This cell is maybe 1/25 of the first level I’m planing to make.
If you guys remember the anime Swam Lake, this is where I got the inspiration (picture 7).
In the next video, I started scripting the camera system. I went for a third person camera inspired by Zelda, Resident Evil 4 and Demon Souls. I think this camera work well for an action adventure game.
I made this blog to bring exposure to my video game project. As of now, I’m the only one working on it, but I’m always looking for some talent to join my team. I already started working on it for a few months now, so I’ll start by just showing already made concept arts and videos in the next few post.
The game is about a girl trapped in a castle. She discovers an old antique robot that she can control remotely. She uses the robot to clear puzzles, create paths and defeat enemies.
Let’s start of by showing the very first prototype I made showing off the core mechanic of the game. This was done with Unity 3D.
The core mechanic is the switch feature between the girl (red block) and the robot (blue block). The player can switch between the two characters at any time to clear a puzzle. Since both characters have different abilities, the player need to use both characters effectively in order to progress in the game.
