This week I successfully implemented the A* (A star) algorithm. This will enable the enemies to find the shortest path to a target (usually the player’s avatar). With the basic algorithm in place, I’m thinking of making custom version as well so that the enemies can do flanking attacks and more advanced strategies. Enjoy the video and please praise Monaka’s new game title and François amazing animations!
Hey guys! Peet just finished putting the final touch on the first enemy (the bronze robot). This basic enemy will be equipped with a puny axe and shield; our robot hero should have no problem “taking care” of him. In other news, we now have a twitter page and a book face page. So yes, we are hip and cool so please follow us :D
Peet just finished modeling the robot avatar. Take a look at his amazing work! François can start rigging it and in the meantime, I’ll be going over the design of the combat system. Stay tune for good stuff like posting on the Steam Greenlight Concept tab, a Tweeter account and a Facebook company page soon.
Today I’m very happy to introduce the work of our animator François Gilbert. François and I used to work together before (in another life) and so I know his work is of the highest quality. Please check out his most recent demo reel HERE.
Ok, so this week we are showing the first basic movement animations of the girl. The feel of the controls is probably the most important element in a game in my opinion since it’s the primary way of interaction for the player. That’s why François and I put a great deal of care and love in the movement system; the walk state alone has 12 animations with up to 4 animations blending at a time. The system itself is something I didn’t really see in other games, so I might do a technical diary video later to explain it (if anyone is interested).
Also, there is good stuff coming:
– Monaka is working on the first promo art.
– Peet is finishing up the robot model.
– We found our music composer! More info soon!
